Welcome to Bristol Ariel Rowing Club

A friendly and inclusive rowing club, we welcome rowers of all abilities and experience, offering Learn to Row courses for beginners, and Go Row Indoor rowing classes for those who are interested in getting fitter on land instead of water. Our membership is a mix of people who want to race competitively and others who want to improve their rowing on a recreational level. Our fleet of boats cater for experienced rowers and novices whether elite racing or recreational paddling.

About the Club

Founded in 1870, we are the oldest rowing club in Bristol.  Based in St Anne’s, we occupy a beautiful and peaceful part of the River Avon, rowing between the Netham and Hanham locks. We offer opportunities for competitive and recreational rowing, as well as the popular British Rowing-approved Go Row indoor rowing fitness classes. Although we are located near the centre of the city, the club is in a beautiful setting with plenty of greenery and wildlife.

Go Row Indoor

Indoor rowing is a low-impact activity that burns more calories minute-for-minute than almost any other exercise. A fun way to get fit, stay healthy and meet new people.

Become a member

We are keen to welcome new members to the club. We charge membership fees to enable us to provide the facilities and equipment for rowing. We believe that financial hardship should not be a barrier to participation, and offer concessions and the ability to pay monthly instalments.
